It was officially spring this past week! Yay! With the warmer spring and summer weather around the corner, it’s a great time for family photos since everything will be in bloom. One of the biggest stresses of getting family photos done is, what to wear! Here are some tips for your photo session.
You want to look and feel your best the day of your photo session. In order to do that, you need to be comfortable in what you are wearing. That goes for the entire family. If your daughter hates dresses, don’t fight over it or force it. Otherwise you will have one uncomfortable miserable kiddo and I’m sure that’s not what you want for your pictures. Do your prefer flats over heels? Than wear flats! If you’re uncomfortable, it will show.
Don’t Play the Match Game
Do you remember the entire family in khaki and white shirt trend or some other matchy matchy outfit? You want to make sure the colors you choose coordinate but you don’t have to match each other.
Don’t fear pattern for your photo session. While you don’t want every one in the family in crazy patterns, subtle coordinating patterns on one or two people look great. Don’t be afraid of a plaid shirt or floral dress. Just make sure the colors coordinate and neither are too crazy.
Colors of the Season
Make sure the colors you choose go with the season you’re having your pictures done. For spring / summer sessions think lighter and brighter colors like pink, blue, green, yellow, just not neon bright! If you prefer something softer, choose neutral shades like an ivory, pale blue, or rose / pale pink color. Don’t be afraid to mix in a light gray or navy blue to compliment the spring / summer colors.
To help my families look their best, I created a Pinterest board specifically for spring / summer photo sessions. It has lots of ideas for color combos and even examples of strips and floral. Click here to check it out if you’re in need of some inspiration!
